Concert Conversations

Have you ever wondered why the trumpets sometimes play offstage, or why Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring started a riot? Here’s your chance to find out!

On-air personalities from Portland’s All Classical radio station host these casual, 30-minute pre-concert conversations with guests including conductors, composers, and musicians from the Symphony.

  • When: One hour before every Classical Series concert

  • Free for all ticketholders!

Prelude Performances

Delight in these lively pre-concert performances by the region’s premier youth and community ensembles as you enter the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.

  • When: Thirty minutes before select concerts
  • Where: In the concert hall lobby on the mezzanine level

We’re always looking for new ensembles to spotlight in our Prelude Performances. In most cases, we’re able to offer participating ensembles complimentary tickets to that night’s concert. To learn more contact Annissa Bolder, Hank Swigert Director of Education and Community Engagement.
